William Etty: Art and Controversy

Future Exhibition: 24 June, 2011 - 22 January, 2012. This major exhibition of works by York-born William Etty will be the first comprehensive reassessment of his art for more than 50 years.  View

Hats

Future Exhibition: 18 September, 2010 - 23 January, 2011 Paintings of hats and their wearers will be shown alongside headwear from York Castle Museum's costume collection, giving insights into etiquette, customs, social class and everyday life.  View

China: Journey to the East

Main Gallery, until 5 September, 2010. This is a British Museum touring exhibition and highlights the impact Chinese history and culture has had on our lives.   View

An English Country Garden

Gallery of Pots, until 26 September, 2010. This charming exhibition of ceramics depicting plants, flowers, animals and birds is inspired by the beauty of a summer garden.  View

York Mystery Plays
